Zeedijk

With the construction of the Zeedijk (Sea Dike) at the end of the 13th century, an end finally came to the floods that had ravaged Amsterdam many times in its history. Due to this protection Amsterdam became a metropolis. The Zeedijk is still visible, 700 years after its construction and is famous for its authentic buildings, original and restored gables and is also part of Chinatown. Many specialty shops, distillery tasting rooms, lunch rooms and restaurants are located here.
