The Museum tells the fascinating story of the growth and blossom of Amsterdam and exhibits the oldest map of the city, dating from 1538. In the old town mediaeval Amsterdam is still apparent on various places. A replica of the oldest map has been donated by the Amsterdam Historical Museum to the restaurant-café In de Waag, located in a former city port dating from 1488. This port is also indicated on the map from 1538, which you can admire in de restaurant.
